I don’t feel comfortable logging into my tumblr in public anymore. Too many dicks. Not that that’s a bad thing when I’m at home…
Thinking about using my artsy professional tumblr to watch sfw stuff for public situations now… :P
I can't figure out how to respond to your NSFW question...but I say absolutely! Why not? It's awesome artwork and it reaches to a wider audience. ;)
I need to enable comments on my computer, I think. Can’t from my phone. Hmm. Yeaaahhhhh…. That’s the pro! The con being anyone watching this account expecting sfw ish stuff might be disappointed.
I can’t decide. So I haven’t posted any of my more titillating stuff here… I have another blog that I already don’t touch for my more generally artsy “here’s me trying to look proffessional” stuff, but… I don’t knowwww….
What's your reason for empathizing with Rat when you decided your fursona? Or near rat, since I think you might have a few other rodents in you...
There was a bit of back and forth. For about a year, I didn’t have a deviantart due to family pressure and my own unwillingness to make the big decision. Sometimes I wanted to be a werewolf, sometimes I wanted to have a character who could be whatever! (Shape shifters are Cool!) I even considered being a green kangaroo for a few days, but in discovering the furry fandom I came across Duncan roo, so that was out!
So when I decided I absolutely needed to come up with a fursona, rats came to mind almost instantly. I’d been drawing a lot of pictures of Justin from the Secret of NIMH at the time, and it just seemed right. It’s one of my favorite films after all. I experimented with his design for a while. He looked a lot like how I drew justin for a while (big part of why his tail, arms, and legs have fur!) and eventually it started to settle! But once I drew that first picture of me as a rat, I was sold. The tail floof was highly inspired by that mouserat guy in The Rescuers Downunder.
My usual process. I start with rough idea of what the character is doing, then sketch over that with more definition, then ink over that. Fill in the flats, separate the colors into different layers and shade layers… and so on. I made a quick 3d model in maya for the buildings, and the lamp is there for scale.
Oh yeah, I meant to share these. Some Prismacolor marker practice, doodles, Pokemon drawn while waiting for dinner… a leather daddy. Fun fun.
